The RJE Oceanbotics SRV-8 underwater drone recently received recognition for its crucial role in a significant drug bust by the Australian Border Force (ABF). The incident was featured on the Australian program "60 Minutes" and involved the discovery and seizure of approximately 200 kilograms of cocaine. The episode, titled "What is parasite smuggling and why is it so dangerous," delved into the escalating issue of drug trafficking hidden beneath commercial ships.
The ABF deployed the SRV-8 on August 9th, 2023, to investigate a suspicious attachment detected on a vessel. Equipped with high-resolution cameras and exceptional maneuverability, the ROV's advanced technology enabled officials to confirm the presence of the illicit cargo.
